LSG vs MI: Sky Is The Limit For Mohsin Khan, Says Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya, on Tuesday (May 17), led Lucknow Super Giants to a thrilling 5-run win over Mumbai Indians in a crucial clash. The win has all but secured LSG’s playoff spot in IPL 2023.

Riding on Marcus Stoinis’ breathtaking knock, LSG posted 177 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs after Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. LSG were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 35 for 3 in the 7th over.

But before Mumbai Indians could make further inroads, Stoinis and Krunal Pandya not only steadied the ship and put their team on the path for a good score. The duo added 82 runs for the third wicket before Pandya decided to retire hurt on 49.

The score was 117 after 16 at that stage. From thereon, it was just a one-man show as Stoinis took charge of the innings and guided his team to a total which eventually turned out to be a winning one. The Australian allrounder smashed an unbeaten 89 off just 47 balls with the help of 4 fours and 8 sixes.

In reply, MI finished their innings on 172 for 5. Openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the team a good start by adding 90 runs for the first wicket. But once both were dismissed in quick succession, MI’s chase completely derailed. Tim David did hit some sixes towards the end but it was not enough.

Speaking after the win, Krunal Pandya began by revealing the reason behind his decision to retire hurt at 49. The former Mumbai Indians allrounder also stated that he would do anything for the team as he expressed his delight over the win.

“I was having cramps, I pulled a muscle. I have always been a team player, anything for the team, so happy with the result,” said Krunal Pandya.

Speaking further, he praised Mohsin Khan who defended 10 runs in the final over, saying: “Mohsin has a big heart. He had a surgery and playing IPL after such a thing, then sky is the limit.

“It has not been easy for us, really happy to end on a good note here. Good to give them a win in this last game at this venue,” he added.
