CSK vs GT Match Report: The final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans saw a game that was not for the weak-hearted as Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans in a nail-biter scoring 10 runs off the last 2 deliveries to help his side clinch their fifth title.

CSK vs GT Match Report: Chennai Super Kings Innings
Chasing the revised target following the rain, Chennai Super Kings needed 171 runs off 15 overs to lift the title. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave their team a great start getting 72 runs off the first 6 overs.
Noor Ahmed provided his team with a much-needed breakthrough as he dismissed Gaikwad in the 7th over with the batter managing 26 runs off 16 deliveries. The bowler have CSK another blow in the same over dismissing Devon Conway for 47 in the final delivery from the same over.

Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane were the next two pair of batters as they tried to get Chennai Super Kings back on track, Ajinkya Rahane started off good getting 16 runs off Josh Little’s over but Noor Ahmed once again pulled the game for GT with just 5 runs off his final over finishing with the figures of 2-17 in his three overs.
The game however continued to go back and fro with Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube pulling 13 runs off Rashid Khan’s 2nd over bringing CSK’s total to 112/2 in 10 overs with the team needing 59 runs off 30 deliveries to win the game. Mohit Sharma who has been Hardik Pandya’s ace in the hole was brought into the play and the bowler provided his team with the breakthrough dismissing Ajinkya Rahane for 27 off 13.
Shivam Dube finally found the much-need touch after seeming to struggle early in the innings as he smashed Rashid Khan for two consecutive sixes on the last two deliveries of the 12th over to get Chennai Super Kings back in the game with the team now needing 38 runs off 18 deliveries.
Ambati Rayudu turned back the clock smashing Mohit Sharma for 16 runs off the first three deliveries off the 13th over bringing CSK an inch closer to victory but the veteran bowler showed his nerve dismissing both Rayudu and MS Dhoni on consecutive deliveries with CSK now needing 21 runs off the last 2 overs.
Mohammed Shami gave his best giving just 8 runs in the penultimate over leaving Chennai Super Kings to chase down 13 runs off Mohit Sharma’s last 6 deliveries. Mohit held his nerve giving just 1 run off his first 2 deliveries.
With 12 needed off 4 deliveries, The bowler continued to impress giving just 2 runs off the next two deliveries to leave Chennai Super Kings with the pressure off chasing 10 runs off 2 deliveries. Jadeja however smashed him for a 6 on the penultimate delivery to leave 4 runs off the last ball. Ravindra Jadeja was the hero for Chennai Super Kings smashing the 4 off the last ball to help CSK lift the title.

GT made history by setting the highest-ever total in an IPL Final. After winning the toss, CSK captain MS Dhoni elected to bowl first. GT’s opening batsmen, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha, got off to a blazing start, scoring the highest-ever Powerplay total in an IPL Final.
Gill and Saha attacked the CSK bowlers aggressively, hitting boundaries at will. Gill eventually fell to a superb stumping by Dhoni, ending their partnership at 67 runs. Saha continued his steady innings while B Sai Sudharsan took charge and unleashed a powerful assault. Saha completed a well-deserved half-century, but was dismissed by Deepak Chahar.
Sudharsan, on the other hand, displayed incredible hitting, smashing boundaries and sixes with ease. He fell just four runs short of a century, scoring an outstanding 96 off 47 balls. GT captain Hardik Pandya joined the run-scoring spree, contributing valuable runs towards the end.

In the final over, Sudharsan hit two consecutive sixes before being dismissed. GT finished their innings with a massive total of 214 for 4 in 20 overs. CSK now face the daunting task of chasing down this record-breaking target in the IPL 2023 Final.
